What is undercarriage damage on a vehicle?

Question by Neva See It!: What is undercarriage damage on a vehicle?
I am here on a online auction, about to purchase a used vehicle. Saw an excellent automobile with the current bid of 2000dollars, but it listed its primary damage as “undercarriage.” I wanted to know exactly what type of damage is it a nd average repair cost (willing to spend 2000dollars on repairs). Also, is it worth buying a second hand car with such damage, is it even worth fixing?

it could be damage to the cars chasis, which is serious cos the chasis is the structural rigidity of the whole car

Thats hard to say without knowing whats wrong,, it may mean they hit something and a part could be bent on the front end suspension, which means it could pull to one side and wear out tires fast, but it could be repaired but impossible to know how much it would cost, but It could still be a good deal if the price is right

but if the frame is bent it is an expensive repair to straightn

It’s been driven over something like a curb or a tree stump which has damaged part of the underneath, it could be part of the suspension that bolts on, or worse, it could be the chassis rails, this will be expensive to fix as alignment will be required. If you don’t know how to fix it, don,t touch it. It’s a money pit.

it’s probably being auctioned off for parts because it is likely unrepairable. buy it for parts, find the same model cheap with high mileage, and swap parts.

Don’t touch it. You may end up spending a lot more on repairs and it will probably never drive right. There are plenty of bargains out there why take such a risk?
