Why is your birth certificate in the car? Why is your husbands birth certificate in the car? What on Earth where you doing driving around with all that information, and then on top of that, you are drunk. I hope you learned a valuable lesson. You are in a pickle, an expensive pickle. I guess I am not a whole lot of help, but you need to freeze your credit reports and put a fraud alert to your local bank. All that information that you had in your car can give somebody access to your bank accounts or make fraudulent charges on your behalf. As far as impounds go, just go talk to them to see what is required of you.

If you had money to get drunk but not enough to pay for the car it seems like you were making some bad decisions. Yet you have an internet connection. So maybe you’re just a troll.

Don’t drink and drive.
The receipt that the police gave you for your license suffices as temporary ID until the case is resolved.
You generally have a right to recover your personal property from your vehicle when it’s impounded. You may need to get duplicate copies of IDs, registration, etc. in order to be granted access to the vehicle. The impound lot can advise you as to what you need.
To recover the vehicle you’ll need a licensed driver, enough cash or certified funds to cover all costs, proof of ownership and proof of insurance. If you don’t recover the vehicle after a certain period of time (typically 30 to 90 days, local laws vary) it will be sold at public auction, subject to any existing liens. (Many jurisdictions bar the owner from bidding less than the outstanding debt at auction.)

What are all of your important papers doing in your car?? That is quit ignorant on your part.
Sorry–You were violating the law– I feel no sympathy for any one who drinks and drives.
My sister was killed at the age of 25,( she had 2 children) from a drunk driver who is enjoying a rather modest life at the moment. -

Since you are charged with a crime, you should have an attorney. Ask your attorney about how to resolve these issues.
If you do not have an attorney, an impounded car will be the least of your worries.
