Question by : My car was impounded, how can I get my personal property?
My car was recently impounded. I’ll be unable to afford the fees to get it out, and the tow company is giving me a hassle about returning my personal property. Does anyone have any knowledge of applicable law in regards to this? I reside in the state of MI, and really want my stuff back.

your stuff is their stuff now, shouldve got all that junk out before it go impounded, or pay the fees to get it back

in most cases and pretty much ALL. If you go to the impound yard during operating hours and show them your registration and photo I.D. they will acccompany you to your car and allow you to get things from it until you can pay to get the car out. also be aware that if you dont get your car out of impound in a relatively fast manor, they can and will auction your car off. I dont know how long your municipality gives you so ask when you get there.
