Question by scribdog: I am wanting to voluntarily surrender a vehicle.?
I am looking into voluntarily surrendering a vehicle back to the fiance company. I have talked to them about it and they advised me I could, but would be sued for the remaining balance once the vehicle is sold at auction. Can they still sue me after I voluntarily surrender it? I am not behind in the payments, but its causing me a financial hardship trying to pay it.

Yes they can and will sue you for any shortage between the auction price and the loan balance. And these auctions can be rigged so they win on both sides of the transaction.

If at all possible it will be best for you to try to sell the vehicle yourself and try to eliminate any shortage.

My car got towed this morning and I called the impound lot and they told me that I need to have the title/registration, ID & money to get the car. Now my name isn’t on tjhe registration – my middle name is. Is that a problem? It was an error and I never got it fixed b/c I go by both names.

Just take it to the impound facility and ask them. It’ll probably work.

My dad had ask for me to go for his medications at the pharmacy> the cop stop me and took the car because i was unlicensed also it didn’t help that my cousin did not have his seat belt he too got a ticket.> i asked if i can call my dad to come and pick me up and the car because he had his license, but the officer said this would teach me a lesson.

Sometimes they will let you-need to talk to the agency that had the vehicle towed.

I am a 19 year old male, never had a car, and I live in the state of Illinois. I am planning on buying a car from an auto auction for around $ 1,000-$ 1,400. I was told I need to take a mechanic with me to look at the car overall, the one I’m buying that is. Plus I have done Carfax Vehicle History reports on most of the cars at the auction I am going to, and the car i want only showed 1 report, so I am looking to buy that car it’s only $ 1,000, but i was wondering do I have to pay additional fees or just flat out pay the $ 1,000 at an auto auction. And what information should I ask for the title? and do they give you the liscence plates for the car? Has anyone ever bought a car from an auto auction for around this price range if so, let me know how it ran, how long it ran, and how much maintenence had to be done to the car? I would appreciate it, and do they actually bid for these cars at this price or do you just look at each car through the parking lot?
